Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at the Happy Community Center with Evangelist Roy Hunter and John Hunter, pastor of People"s Church of Dalhart, officiating. Dick Ratjen was born on November 23, 1931 in Randall County to Henry and Dora Walters Ratjen. He graduated from Happy High School and married Phyllis Dean at Canyon on January 15, 1972. He attended Texas Tech University and West Texas State University and was a lifetime rancher. He was a rodeo cowboy and was named to the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame. He was also a rodeo producer and participant for many years and was a lifetime member of the PRCA. He was an auctioneer and involved in real estate. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Dora Evelyn Walters and Henry F. Ratjen, and one sister, June Hancock. Survivors include his wife Phyllis Ratjen of Happy; step daughter, Pam Tatum of Amarillo; brother, Jack Ratjen of Mansfield; sister, Betty Whelchel of Amarillo; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
