Obituary for DENNIS GOETTSCH

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 9 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Rick Enns, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery. Tracy Dennis Goettsch was born on December 9, 1956 in Amarillo to L.M. and Phyllis Blanscet Goettsch. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1974. He was a member of the Honors and Show Choirs at Canyon High. He took guitar lessons at Nizzi’s Music Studio in Amarillo at a young age. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he sang in the youth choir. Dennis was chosen as the Representative of the Northwest Texas Methodist Conference for three consecutive conferences. He also served on the Missions team at Polk Street United Methodist Church in Amarillo. While in high school, he began working for the Randall County Sheriff’s Office as an emergency response dispatcher. After graduating from high school, he moved to Austin and began working for Travis County as a field deputy. He attended Austin Community College and the University of Texas. He became the Assistant Director at the Irwin Center in Austin, where he honed his audio engineering skills. Dennis worked for JBL as a speaker designer for many years. He received several awards for his designs and products at JBL. He lived in Costa Mesa, California for several years before moving back to Canyon. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Goettsch; and his father. Survivors include his mother, Phyllis Goettsch Amerson of Canadian; daughter, Gayle Lyn Chandler and husband, Troy of Marshall, Minnesota; three grandchildren Drew, Brayden and Colton Chandler; brother, Greg Goettsch and wife, Gina of Abilene; two nephews; cousin, Stuart Goettsch; and many special friends.
