Obituary for Deloris Ann Hancock

Deloris Ann “Jackson” Hancock, 78, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019.  Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Anna St. Church of Christ with Gene Shelburne, minister, officiating.  Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Deloris was born on November 14, 1940 in Canyon to Carroll and Audrey Markham Hancock.  She graduated from Happy High School in 1959.  She retired after many years as a clerk from Affiliated Foods and also sold tickets at Wonderland Park in the evenings and weekends for over thirty years.  Deloris attended Anna St. Church of Christ and enjoyed Gene Shelburn’s Tuesday Night Bible Study. Her family, who lovingly called her “Jackson”, will always remember her generous spirit.  She was very giving to her family, especially to her sixteen nieces and nephews, always suggesting they take money or her car.  She also loved quilting and according to her family, “She was the glue that held us all together.” Deloris was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Audrey Lee Hancock, and her brother, Clyde Hancock.  She is survived by five sisters, Charlotte Morris, of Littlefield, Billye Waldron of Strafford, NH, Bettie Everitt of Amarillo, Carollee Waters of Amarillo, and Susie Lilley of Little Elm; sixteen nieces and nephews; and longtime friend, Barbara Olson. The family suggests memorials be to your favorite charity.
