Obituary for DEDRA BEATY WILSON

Services will be 10: 00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at Brooks Chapel with Richard Wilson and Richard Freeman, officiating. Additional services will be 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Kress with Rev. Buddy Payne, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Snyder, officiating. Burial will follow at Kress Cemetery. Dedra Beaty Wilson was born to Don D. Beaty and Cootie Dale Beaty on December 19, 1957, in Amarillo, Texas. The family moved to Kress, Texas in 1962.Over her 16-year career as an elementary school teacher, she had a positive impact on the lives of hundreds of children that passed through her classes at Kress Elementary School. She attended West Texas A & M University and Wayland Baptist University, earning her degree in elementary education in 1988.Dede loved the plains and her community of friends and neighbors. She never met a stranger and will be missed greatly by all who knew her. Dede"s love of local history brought her to membership in the 4th Calvary re-enactment club of Lubbock and the Plum Creek Brigade Black Powder Club. She married, Roger Wilson, in the Kress Methodist Church on October 26, 1996. She was preceded in death by her father, Don D. Beaty in 1994. She will lie in state Tuesday 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Roger Wilson, her daughter and best friend, Jessica Beaty, two adored grandchildren, Makinzi and Tristan Nogle, and her mother, Cootie Beaty, all of Canyon. Other Survivors include her sister, Jade Beaty of Austin and her niece, Crimson Holland and husband, Matt Jimenez and their children, Maya and Elan Jimenez of Hutto, Texas.
