Graveside services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Dreamland Cemetery with Leland Hutson, associate minister of Canyon Hills Church of Christ, officiating. Dean H. Schaeffer was born on February 15, 1921 in Happy, Texas to George and Texie Evans Schaeffer. He married Doris Zielstra at Albuquerque in 1951. She preceded him in death in 1983. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Force and served from 1942 to 1946 during WWII. He later rejoined the Air Force and served until 1967. He owned a car dealership in Canyon for a number of years. He graduated from West Texas State College with a Bachelor degree in Education and taught school in Amarillo. He was a member of the Canyon Hills Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Schaeffer, of Canyon; two sons, Robert Schaeffer, of Canyon and Klaus Schaeffer, of Huntsville, Texas; and two brothers, Stanley Schaeffer and wife, Geneva, of Happy and Don Schaeffer, of Omaha, Arkansas.
