Obituary for DARRELL DEAN WYLIE

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, June 6, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Rev. Gene Jones, associate pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 7 at Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, Kansas. Darrell Dean Wylie was born on August 18, 1932 in Garfield, Kansas to Nealan and Mable Foss Wylie. He graduated from McPhearson High School in McPhearson, Kansas and served in the U. S. Marines from 1950 to 1954, during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Bowling in Amarillo in 1976, and they lived in Denver until 1997 when they moved to Canyon. He was in the transportation industry for forty-five years, and the last fifteen years worked for Midcoe Transportation. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the American Legion, ELKS, and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Justin Crafton and Daniel Joe Taylor in 1998. Survivors include his wife, Mary Wylie, of the home; three sons, David Bowling, and wife, Mary, of Canyon, John Bowling, of Amarillo, and Dudley Bowling, and wife, Ronda, of Siloam Springs, AR; two daughters, Delinda Manning, and husband, Kenneth, of Abilene, and Cindy Whitfield, of Amarillo; one sister, Patricia Colvin, and husband, Bradley, of St. Charles, Missouri; one brother, Bob Wylie, of New York; twelve grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony"s Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79176.
