Obituary for DANIEL VERNER GILLHAM

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Wayside Community Church with Steven Gillham officiating. Burial will follow in Wayside Cemetery, Wayside, Texas. Daniel Verner Gillham was born on September 16, 1931 in Happy to Memory Loyse and Bonnie Hazel Adams Gillham. He married Leonie Herrera in Tulia on January 28, 2001. Daniel was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a medic. He was a talented builder, mason, and cabinet maker. He loved to sing and help people and will be remembered for his generous, giving spirit. He was a member and elder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Daniel was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Chapman Gillham and three sisters, Mary Gillham, Memory Thomas and Edith Clause. Survivors include his wife, Leonie Gillham; four children, Bonnie Beauchamp, Daniel Verner Gillham, Jr., Linda Dale, and Mary Womack; two adopted children, David Dane Gillham and Esther Elizabeth Gillham; foster children, Edgar Orelleno, Keisha Herrera, and Tina Marie Herrera and a multitude of others; 16 grandchildren, Ryan and Justin Peterson, Brendon, Denver, and Alyssa Gillham, Michelle Diesch, Andrea Dale Salguero, Marianne Dale Robinson, Amanda Womack, Jessica Durichec, David and Jonathan Mooney, Leonie, Josiah, and James Miranda, and Jahnaya Gillham; numerous great-grandchildren; and 6 brothers and sisters, Olla Gillham, Chaney Gillham, Laura Edwards, Donald Gillham, Ben Gillham, and Ester Mesnard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to charities close to Daniel’s heart, The King’s Children’s Home, PO Box 144, Belmopan City, Belize, Central America or to Tulia Seventh-day Adventist Church Food Bank, 203 N. Gaines Avenue, Tulia, TX 79088.
