Dan E. Warrick, 74, of Canyon, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022.

Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the First Methodist Church of Canyon, 1818 4th Ave, with Rev. Rick Enns and Pastor Chris Enoch, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors.

Dan was born October 21, 1947 in Wellington, Texas to Velman E. Warrick and Dora Fern (Durfey) Warrick. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1965. He received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from West Texas State University in 1969. Dan married Donna Lynn Zenor on July 12, 1969 and they made a home together in Hereford, Texas and welcomed two children: Wendy and D.J.

Dan was a certified public accountant with Cotton & Warrick, P.C. in Hereford for 45 years. He also was a financial advisor for Raymond James, an auditor for Deaf Smith County from 1998 to 2012, and he served on the board of the Hereford Credit Union.

He was a member of the Hereford Jaycees, Hereford Kiwanis, Hereford Rotary, American Institute of CPAs, Panhandle Chapter of CPAs, First United Methodist Church of Wellington and Hereford, First Methodist Church of Canyon, Pathfinders Sunday School Class in Canyon, SOFA, and the WT Buffalo Club.

Dan enjoyed being involved with his children’s activities including Boy Scouts of America, coaching his son in t-ball and flag football, Hereford High School Band Boosters, and following the band all over the State of Texas to support them.

Dan also enjoyed playing golf and once even made a hole in one. He was an avid reader. He read the Hank the Cowdog series to his son while growing up and later shared books and book recommendations with his daughter.

He had a life-long passion for collecting and restoring classic and antique cars. A passion that he shared with his brothers, Bill and Glen, and his son, D.J.

He supported West Texas A&M athletics as a season ticket holder for both football and basketball. He cheered for the Iowa State Cyclone Football and Basketball teams as well.

Dan had tremendous faith. His devotion to God and his family knew no bounds.

His favorite thing was being “Boompa” to his grandchildren. He loved reading to them, playing games, cheering them on in sports, teaching them how to golf and fish, and just holding them. They were his greatest joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Velman and Dora Fern Warrick, and a brother, Glen Warrick.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Donna Warrick; daughter, Wendy Kilpatrick and husband, Brian; son, D.J.
