Obituary for C.W. STUBBLEFIELD Jr.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 14 at Brooks Chapel. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 15 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Enns, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors provided by Volleys for Veterans. C.W. Stubblefield, Jr. was born on August 20, 1926 to Clarence W. And Delia Halcomb Stubblefield in O’Donnell. He was drafted into the Army on March 29, 1946. He was in the Company A 20th training battalion at Fort McClellan in Alabama. After completing basic training he was shipped to Fort Lewis, Washington. C.W. earned the rank of Corporal. He was discharged on September 28, 1947. He was a World War II Veteran.He farmed in O’Donnell for 35 years. On February 19, 1949, he married Joyce Thompson in Lamesa. They were married for 67 years. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2016. In 1965, they moved to Canyon and C.W. was hired on at Pantex. He retired in 2000 after working for 25 years.He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, and going on a yearly pilgrimage to Las Vegas. C.W. was a 50 year member of the Canyon City Masonic Lodge #730, a past patron of Canyon City Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #105, and also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dal Williams Stubblefield and Charles Stubblefield and a sister, Wanda Stubblefield Hodo. We would like to express our gratitude to Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home for their loving care of our father. We would also like to send a special thank you to Cherrie, Courtney, Sandra, Dominique, Kayle and other staff members at Ussery-Roan and Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice Care of the Southwest. Survivors include his two daughters, Mary Kathryn Stubblefield Harbour and husband, David of Stinnett, Toye Ann Stubblefield of Canyon; two grandchildren, Lena Kathryn Harbour, Jacob Daniel Harbour and wife, Rachel; a niece, Barbara Ann Mayberry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
