Obituary for CONNIE CHARLENE SMYRL

Memorial Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 3, 2005 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. David Lowrie, Jr. officiating. Private interment will be at Dreamland Cemetery. Connie Charlene Smyrl was born on October 24, 1952 in Birmingham, Alabama to Gene and Mae Nell Best Penn. She graduated from Palo Duro High School and Amarillo College. She married Charles Smyrl at Clovis, NM on April 24, 1980 and has lived in Canyon since then. She was an avid Canyon Lady Eagles fan and supporter and was a member of the CHS Band Booster Club. She taught bowling at Western Bowl in Amarillo for over fifteen years to any child that was interested. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon. Survivors include her husband, Charles Smyrl, of Canyon; one son, Joseph Smyrl, of Texas; one daughter, Jennifer Smyrl, of Canyon; one sister, Karen Peterson, and husband, Bruce, of Spring, TX; two brothers, Dennis Penn, and wife, Lisa, of Indian Hills, NC, and David Penn, and wife, Rhonda, of Amarillo; his mother, Mae Nell Penn, of Amarillo; and his father, Gene Penn, and wife, Saundra, of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
