Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the First Baptist Church with Mike Motheral, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Brooks Chapel. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors.

Teddy Royce was born in Levelland, Texas on May 9, 1950 to Ivy Jane and Wilmer T. Giddens. He had one older brother, Butch Giddens and wife, Janice of Lubbock and older sister, Janie Rogers of Lubbock. Being their baby brother was something he considered a great honor.

He grew up in Sundown, Texas where he graduated in the class of 1968. His hometown meant everything to him.

Endearingly known as “Coach”, Ted’s greatest joy was often found on the football field. As former head coach of the Canyon Eagles, he was a proud leader of his players and enjoyed coaching under the Friday Night Lights along side many people he called his friends.

Ted was known for his love for his family, a good story, the Dallas Cowboys, Jack Nicklaus, Mickey Mantle, Gus McRae, a massive peanut M&M Dairy Queen blizzard, John Wayne and Johnny Cash.

He is survived by his wife, Terri Giddens of Canyon; his two sons, Toby Giddens and wife Sheila of Amarillo, Tory Giddens and wife Kedra of Fort Worth; and his daughter, Tristi Weston and husband Ben of Canyon. He is also survived by 10 beautiful grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Abigail, Nathan, Luke, Hannah, Audrey, Casey, Jack, Adalyn, Brinley, and Seth.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ivy Jane Giddens and Wilmer Thomas Giddens; his brother-in-law, CL. Rogers; his self-proclaimed favorite mother-in-law, Joy Holmes; and his three-legged dog, Yogi.

The family requests that donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association to help combat this brutal disease and provide support for their families, www.lbda.org.
