Obituary for Clois Rowland

Clois Rowland, 94, of Canyon, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 in Amarillo, Texas. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Childress Cemetery in Childress. Memorial services will follow at 4:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Canyon with Rev. Rick Enns, pastor, and Shane Nease, pastor of Living Water Christian Fellowship, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Clois was born October 5, 1924 to H.G. and Docia Rowland in Vernon, TX. He married Dorothy Skipworth on September 5, 1942. They were married 76 years. A veteran of World War II. Clois served in the US Navy in the South Pacific aboard the USS Hansford for 2 ½ years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon and the Crusaders Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jean Landin; three sons, Roy, Bobby and Jimmie; and three grandchildren, Tate, Shondra, and Jamie. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Linda Stone; eight grandchildren, Stacy Tucker, Brec Stone, Sarah Stone, Shane Rowland, Kevin Rowland, Chad Riddell, Jaclyn Daniel,  and Jennifer Jones-Booth; fourteen great grandchildren, Justin, Grey, Addison, Preston, Payton, Inigo, Q. Clois, Blake, Jansen, Aubrey, Brooklynn, Bryson, Jaci, and Jacob; and one great-great grandchild, Caroline. The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley’s Boy’s Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101 or to your favorite charity.
