Obituary for CHRISTOPHER JORDAN HINDERS

Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 5, 2006 at the First Christian Church of Amarillo with Rev. Debra Huffman, pastor of First Christian Church of Canyon, and Rev. Marvin James, pastor of Congregational Care, First Christian Church of Amarillo, officiating. Christopher Jordan Hinders, of Amarillo, was born on September 14, 1984 in Canyon. He will be remembered as a fighter. He faced the battle of cancer with strength, dignity and humor. Chris was blessed with many angels who took care of him during his long battle against Ewing"s Sarcoma, and he gained many new friends in the process. Chris had a passion for soccer and excelled at football; he was a fighter on and off the field. He had a quick mind and an even quicker sense of humor. He loved easily and was loved in return. Chris was active in 4-H and his favorite subject was science, particularly paleontology and herpetology. He had a passion for hard rock music and movies which eventually led him to begin a degree in Theatre at WTAMU. He was a wonderful son and an even better man. Chris felt closest to God while at church camp. He spent every summer at Ceta Glen and many retreats during the year; if the camp was open he wanted to be there. He served faithfully on the Disciple of Christ Youth Ministry Team of the High Plains Area for two years and was YMT Captain his senior year. Chris made his impact on the world and will be missed by his parents, David and Tami Hinders, his sister, Calli, his paternal grandparents, Louis and Carolyn Hinders, all of Canyon, his maternal grandparents, David and Pam Schuetz, of Ruidoso, NM, many uncles, aunts and cousins, and his numerous friends. Chris asked that memorials be sent to Ceta Canyon Camp & Retreat Center, % Hinders Ceta Glen Memorial, 37201 FM 1721, Happy, Texas 79042.
