Obituary for Charlotte Lynch

Charlotte Lynch, 92, of Canyon, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday July 17, 2021 at the Third and Central Church of Christ in Lovington, New Mexico with David Lough, minister of University Church of Christ in Canyon, Texas and David Stewart, minister of Third and Central Church of Christ in Lovington, officiating. Services will be handled by Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home in Lovington, NM.

Charlotte was born on April 7, 1929 on the family farm located five miles southwest of Brownfield, Texas in the Needmore Community to Marshall Hillride (“Sunk”) and Mabel Pauline (Lee) Bennett. She graduated from Meadow High School in 1947. Charlotte married Bennie Medlin Lynch on October 25, 1954 in Eunice, NM. She was an Abstractor for L. Dene Stephens of Lea County Abstract Company where she was known for her beautiful penmanship in the tract books.

Charlotte was a wonderful cook, loved gardening, and played the piano for the girls’ chorus in high school. She had a beautiful alto voice which she used to sing for funerals and weddings. She also enjoyed reading to learn and stay current. Charlotte was a member of Third and Central Church of Christ in Lovington, NM. She moved to Canyon in 2017.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years in 2005, two infant brothers, Paul Douglas and Douglas Marshall Bennett, one brother, Cloyce Daniel Bennett in 2014, one sister, Wanda Colleen Kimbell in 2016, her son, Jerry Michael Lynch in 2009, her son, David Alan Lynch in 2016, and her great-grandson, Lukas David Lough in 2019.

Survivors include her daughter, Lynette Lough and husband, David of Canyon; three grandsons, David Sumner Lough and wife, Ann of Canyon, Michael Lough and wife, Lydia of Trumbull, NE, and Christopher Lough of Austin; daughter-in-law, Kim Lynch of Brownfield; two granddaughters, Kelsey Lamprecht and husband, David of Brownfield, and Korey McMillan and husband, Stephen of Huntsville; one great-granddaughter and five great-grandsons; one nephew, Bennett Kimbell and wife, Jenni of Houston; two nieces, Dr. Hillary Onan and husband, Atilla of Austin, and Courtney Rodriguez and husband, Larry of Leander; and three great-nieces.

The family suggests memorials be to New Mexico Children’s Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, NM 88130-9983.
