Obituary for Charles "Charlie" Thrasher

Charles “Charlie” Thrasher, 77, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Central Baptist Church in Amarillo, 1601 SW 58th Ave, with Allen Copeland, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel.

Charlie was born on January 7, 1944 in Houston, Mississippi to Thomas and Daisy Houser Thrasher. He married Linda Newton on January 10, 1964 in Canyon, Texas. Charlie was a legendary car salesman for forty plus years. He also owned and operated a detail and scooter shop and hail repair business for eight years.

He was a member of the Elks and Moose Lodge. He played fast-pitch softball, was a golden glove boxer, and enjoyed bowling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, and a son, Chuck Thrasher.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Linda; daughter, Brenda Darst and husband, David; grandson, Charles Thrasher; four granddaughters, Brittany Thrasher, Mackenzie Darst, Haylee Darst, and Emily Thrasher; and two great grandchildren, Aliyah Thrasher and Scout Hickman.
