Obituary for Ceola McKay

Ceola McKay, 94, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Brooks Chapel with Howard Morris, minister of 6th Street Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery.

Ceola was born on May 11, 1927 in Red River County to Clyde and Irene (Malone) Flowers. She married Len R. McKay on October 8, 1964, and he preceded her in death on October 28 2011. Ceola lived and farmed in Randall County for 47 years. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, jigsaw puzzles, and collecting glassware, especially pink glass. She loved wildlife and nature and especially enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels. She was also a wonderful homemaker and was deeply loved by her family and everyone she met. She will be sincerely missed by everyone. She was a member of the 6th Street Church of Christ.

Ceola was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda McLaughlin, son, Darrell Moore, one granddaughter, one great-grandson, two brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include one sister, Letha Long of Aspermont; son, Russell Moore and wife, Beth of Amarillo; three daughters, Becky Burgett and Ruth Stovall, both of Amarillo, and Trella McKay of Canyon; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 14 great, great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
