Rick Enns, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon, officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Brooks Chapel. Carroll was born on March 12, 1938 in San Angelo to Leonard and Lorene Wright.  He grew up in a farming family and graduated from Eola High School.  He met Cathryn Morris while she was teaching in San Angelo and they were married on July 21, 1963 in the Joseph A. Hill Chapel in Canyon. Carroll was Director of Maintenance at Texas State Technical Institute for many years and was a past member of Palo Duro Country Club.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching football.  He enjoyed traveling worldwide and especially loved his trips to Las Vegas with friends and family.  Carroll had a wonderful sense of humor and cherished his time with his granddaughters and great granddaughters. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry Wright.  Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Cathryn Wright of Amarillo; his daughter, Leslie Horton of Dallas; his son, James Wright of Canyon; two granddaughters, Heather Stone and Haley Horton; and two great granddaughters, Kathryn and McKenzie Stone.
