Obituary for BONNIE JO WHITTINGTON

Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Don McDonald, pastor, officiating. Bonnie Jo, our beloved daughter, was born to Bonnie and Joseph C. Whittington on September 22, 1944, in Amarillo. She grew up in the wonderful communities of Sabinal and Canyon, Texas. In 1966, she graduated from UTMB School of Physical Therapy in Galveston, Texas and began her God sent lifelong profession of physical therapy. Bonnie spent many wonderful years in McAllen, Texas working wholeheartedly for the Easter Seal Society and enjoying her many great friends. She earned the Master Degree in Physical Therapy in 1994 from Texas Women"s University. In Dallas, she worked at the Presbyterian Hospital where she was awarded Employee of the Year. She spent the last part of her physical therapy career at BSA and Region 16 in Amarillo. In October 2001, Bonnie received the Ruby Decker Award, a Texas Physical Therapy Association / Anonymous Donor award. This award is presented to a Texas physical therapist, honored and recognized for outstanding work in direct patient care physical therapy. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph C. Whittington. Survivors include her mother, Bonnie V. Whittington, of Canyon; one sister, Julie McCoy, and husband, Jerry, of Dallas; one brother, Joe Whittington, and friend, Linda Schulte, of St. Louis, MO; niece, Aimee Whittington, of Wilbraham, MA; nephew, Marine 1st Lt. J. T. Whittington, of Cherry Point, NC; aunts, Eugenia Basquin, of Elkhart, IN, and Florence Roessler, of Boulder, CO; numerous cousins in the United States and Slovenia, and many faithful friends and colleagues. The family suggests memorials be to the Presbyterian Children"s Home, 3400 S.
