Obituary for BOBBY RAY ARGO

Bobby"s family and friends invite you to join them in a memorial service, Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Brooks Chapel in Canyon, Texas with Bill Holt, officiating. Bobby will be laid to rest in his favorite place, the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Bobby"s last request is that any friends and family who join his wife and family in Santa Fe go with them to the Camel Rock Casino, enjoy the buffet and play his favorite slots for him. He will not be available for viewing. Bobby Ray Argo was born July 22, 1946 in Edna, Texas to Ava and Emmett Argo. At the age of six, Bobby along with his two brothers and two sisters joined other kids in the South Texas Childrens Home until he graduated. He attended Pettus High School where he loved to run and play football. Upon graduation he attended Howard Payne with a bachelor of science in social studies and physical education in 1969. Upon graduation of college, he started his 15 year career of teaching and coaching. Bobby coached football, high school and junior high basketball, boys and girls track and baseball. In 1970 to 1972, he served his country in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. In 1991, Bobby started his second career selling cars. On November 20, 1998 he married Jo Ann Meiwes and her three kids in Amarillo, Texas. He made friends over the years not only with people he worked with but also with his favorite coach Raymond Wills and his wife, Dorothy and their son, Coach Rob Wills and his family. Bobby remained good friends with his AG teacher, R. C. Edmondson and many of the boys that he went to school with. He will also be missed by several of the friends that he made while selling cars. Bobby enjoyed pulling jokes on his family and his fellow co-workers in the car business, playing golf, watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, gardening and relaxing with his family and his favorite dogs, Sam and Scooby in his lap. Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Ava Maxey Argo, his father, Emmett, a sister, Nowana Laycock, a brother, Harold Argo, a niece, Teena Lynn and a dear friend Robert Salinas, that he lost in Vietnam and Gary Scivally. His wife and children would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Canyon Healthcare, Hospice of the Southwest and Outreach Home Health for all the support and encouragement that they gave during the last nine months. He was survived by his wife, Jo Ann, his daughter, Citasha Chambers and her husband Kevin of Amarillo, his daughter Cassie Meiwes and her fiancé Jeff Gresham of Amarillo, his son, Matthew Wilkinson of Amarillo, his son, Ross Argo of Midland and his daughter, Jill Harris and her husband John of Midland and one grandson, Skyler Scott Gresham who he loved taking care of each day. He was survived by one sister, Linda Coffey and her husband, P.D. of Gonzales, Texas and two brothers, Larry Argo and his wife Hugutte of Manchester, New Hampshire and Eddie Argo and his wife Marcia of San Angelo, and one sister-in-law, Evelyn Argo of Kingsville, Texas.
