Obituary for Billy Charles Mayfield, Jr.

Billy Charles Mayfield, Jr., 61, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Billy was born on August 17, 1959 in Canyon, Texas to Billy Charles and Marie (Hoggins) Mayfield, Sr. After graduating from Canyon High School in 1977, he served in the U.S. Army armed services as a power generator and wheel vehicle mechanic while stationed in the U.S. and Europe. After being discharged from the Army, achieving the rank of SP4, with awards for Marksman as a Rifle and GCMDL, he drove a semi-truck across the U.S. for US EXPRESS for many years and countless miles.

Billy’s hobbies included working on engines, watching old western movies, and puzzles.

Billy is preceded in death by his father, Billy Charles Mayfield, and a granddaughter, Laikken Mayfield. Survivors include his mother, Marie Hoggins Mayfield of Amarillo; son, Bobby Mayfield and wife, Ronna of Sunray; brother, Terry Mayfield and wife, Cindy of Amarillo; niece, Madison Mayfield Penton and husband, Jared of Diana, TX; granddaughters, Lettie, Lennox, and Lillian Mayfield of Sunray; and aunt, Rae Hoggins of League City, TX.
