Obituary for Bill Reinauer

Bill Reinauer, 82, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 17, 2021 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Amarillo with Father John Valdez as Celebrant. A vigil will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon.

Bill was born on August 24, 1938 in Oklahoma City, OK to Edward and Jean Reinauer. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Entomology and AgriScience from Texas Tech University in 1962. Bill married Tenna Witherspoon in Hereford on June 8, 1956. They farmed in Hereford where they were partners in E.C. Reinauer & Sons Produce, 3R Feedyards and ECR Corporation Farms. They also farmed in Dalhart, Uvalde, Monte Alto, Willard and Estancia, New Mexico. They also spent several years farming in Jamaica and Egypt. Bill received Farmer of the Year in New Mexico in 1968. He served on the board of directors for the Hereford Country Club, Hereford Chamber of Commerce, the National Potato Board, and the Texas Aerial Applicators. He was also a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Amarillo and the Amarillo Corvette Club.

After retiring at age 79, Bill and Tenna began traveling to corvette shows with the Amarillo Corvette Club. He received the highest award possible for his corvette and he dearly loved his corvette club family. Bill also loved snow skiing and was a private pilot. His greatest love however, was his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and he will be lovingly remembered by all for his wonderfully witty and funny sense of humor.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas Lee Reinauer. Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years, Tenna Reinauer; three daughters, Teri Hurst of Gun Barrel City, TX, Jan Tucker and husband, Mike of Elmira, NY, and Vicki Paetzold and husband, Martin of Ft. Collins, CO; eight grandchildren, T.J. Timberlake and wife, Erin, Tori Mitzel and husband, Jim, Spencer Hurst, Jessica Ekhtiar and husband, Darius, Joshua Tucker and wife, Kari, Ashlee Jolly and husband, Matt, Jennifer Lee and husband, B.C., and Brandon Paetzold and wife, Jessica; ten great grandchildren; a brother, Eddie Reinauer, Jr. of McKinney, TX; and a sister, Cissie Larsen and husband, Ron of Fairview, TX.
