Obituary for Beverly Peters

Beverly Anne Peck Peters, 75, of Canyon, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 15, 2019.  Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Dr. Richard Shaw, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Happy, officiating.  Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Beverly was born April 13, 1944 in Houston to Kenneth and Ruth Anne Peck.  She graduated from Edna High School in 1962.  Beverly received her B.S. and M.Ed. degrees from West Texas State University where she was a member and officer of Delta Zeta Sorority.    On May 24, 1969, Beverly married the love of her life, AJ Peters.  They both taught school in Edna ISD and in 1971, they moved to Canyon.  She taught Special Education in Amarillo ISD at Olsen Park Elementary for 26 years, retiring in 1997.  She also owned Heritage Antiques in Canyon with her parents, and she and AJ owned Peters’ Rental Properties. After retiring, Beverly planned and escorted bus tours across the nation for senior citizens with AJ driving the bus.  On the tours she made many wonderful friends which was the highlight of her life.  She and AJ traveled extensively, taking many personal trips as well. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon and the Bible Searchers Sunday School Class.  She enjoyed visiting senior citizens and shut-ins.  Beverly loved the Lord with all her heart. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Larry Peck, and a niece, Cimone Peck Neill.  Survivors include her husband, AJ Peters of Canyon; a nephew, Jeff Peck and wife, Amy of Lubbock; a great niece, Shannon Neill Landry and husband, Justin of Colorado Springs, CO; a nephew-in-law, Patrick Neill of Colorado Springs, CO; two cousins, Russell Peck and wife, Christine of Fulshear and Peggy Rooks of Edmond, OK; and three great nephews of Lubbock.
