Obituary for BETTYE OLSON

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 18 at the Mausoleum at Llano Cemetery with Jeff Bayley, officiating. Bettye was born April 29, 1923 in Amarillo to J. Carl and Margaret Hales. She married Glenn O. Olson on September 25, 1942 in Clovis, New Mexico. They lived in the Texline farming community for 53 years until Glenn"s death in 2005. Bettye then moved to Amarillo. She was a member of the Texline Methodist Church for 58 years and a lifetime member of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Carl Hales. She dearly missed her loving husband of 63 years. The family wishes to thank Kathy Finley, who became her best friend, and to her other special care givers Anna Garcia, Brandie Brown, and Shirley Schneider. Additionally, we are grateful for the loving care she received from her hospice nurse, Twila Compton, and the rest of the BSA Hospice team members. Bettye is survived by two daughters, Anne Fields and husband, Bruce, of Canyon, Carol Farmer and husband, David, of Conyers, Georgia; several cousins including, Margaret Bowden, of El Paso, Rebecca Katz, of Winchester, KY; a brother-in-law, Donald Olson, of Canyon; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Olson, of Amarillo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Texline Methodist Church Permanent Endowment Fund, PO Box 67, Texline, TX 79087 or to BSA Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176.
