Obituary for Beth Gamble

Beth Gamble, 76, of Canyon, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Dryden Cemetery Chapel in Dryden, Oklahoma with Bobby Whorton, officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel in Canyon.

Beth was born on November 5, 1945 in Hollis, Oklahoma to J.A. and Rachel Whorton. She graduated from Ron High School and then went on to further her education at Southwest Oklahoma State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in education and business and a Master’s degree in business.

On March 14, 1964, she married her childhood sweetheart Danny Bob Gamble in Wellington, Texas. They met when Beth was in the first grade, Danny Bob was in the second grade and he told his teacher, Mrs. Metcalf, that he was going to marry her. They celebrated 58 years together.

Beth was a schoolteacher for a few years before she joined her husband in the art business. She worked behind the scenes helping Danny in his art career at Gamble’s Frame and Art. They had a fun adventurous life going to art shows and meeting new people.

She was an avid sports fan who never missed a game, especially the ones her grandchildren were playing in. She and Danny Bob were their number one fans in all of their endeavors. Beth was the keeper of the family. She was devoted to her kids and grandkids and happiest when she could cook for them. She was the best wife, mom, Nanny, and cook. She wasn’t too bad at cards either and was the favorite call to make on the drive home from work. Nanny was very quiet, but we know that she loved Jesus because she showed us every day. Nobody has ever displayed His love quite like Nanny did. She was a servant to all around her, even to the end.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Baby Boy Whorton and Jerry Whorton; her parents-in-law, Arzie and Verbena Gamble; and many close cousins that she loved.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Bob Gamble; son, Michael and wife Crystal Gamble; daughter, Renee Brown and Mark Born; grandsons, Dusty and wife Lauren Gamble, Chance and wife Lexi Gamble; granddaughters, Maci and husband Evan Ruiz, Codi Brown (available); great grandchildren, Nova and Callen; sister, Gayla and husband Jessie James and their children, Summer Clark and family, Beau James and family; niece and nephew, Susan Hunt and Jerry Bob Whorton; special friends and family, Jeff Brown, Charlie Decker, Linda Burns, Terri Branum, Dyna Johnson, Larry and Ginger Jackson, Jorene Woodman, Ashley and Devin Calhoun and family, Erica Roberson and family; "Grandkids" Caleb, Cayce & Tilly and really too many more to mention. And her “boy” Shorty (devoted dog).

A special thank you to Dr. Batson for all his comforting calls and to Dr. Reddy, Dr. Keister, Texas Oncology, and BSA Hospice Care of the Southwest for their loving care of Beth.
