Obituary for BERNARD BRYCE WARREN

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the First Baptist Church Chapel of Amarillo with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor and Dr. Chester O"Brien, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11:30 A.M. at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Bernard Bryce Warren was born on March 25, 1922 in Canyon to William and Leta McCarty Warren. He was raised in Canyon and worked at his father"s store, Warren"s Department Store. He owned and operated Warren Funeral Home in Canyon from 1945 to 1960. He married Martha Hammond on August 26, 1947 at the First Baptist Church of Canyon. He was an investment banker for eighteen years, working first at Kidder Peabody and later retired from Dean Witter. He supported the Boy Scouts where he was tapped Order of the Arrow. He was a member of the Lions Club in Canyon, was a Giddeon, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon, where he served as deacon. They moved to Amarillo in 2001. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Bryce Warren. Survivors include his wife, Martha Warren, of the home; a son, John A. Warren, of Longview, TX; three granddaughters, Dr. Sarah Chaumette, of Orange, CA, Rachel Dixson and husband, Tony, of Madison, Wisconsin, and Lydia Warren, of Asheville, NC; one great grandson, Trenton Warren Dixson, of Madison, Wisconsin; and one sister-in-law, Beulah Bible, of Alamosa, CO.
