Obituary for BERNARD PAUL HARTMAN

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 3, 2012 at St. Ann"s Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Dreher officiating. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Brooks Chapel with Deacon Gabe Rivas officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary"s Catholic Cemetery, Umbarger, Texas. Bernard Paul Hartman was born on May 20, 1934 in the family home near Umbarger to Carl Antone Hartman and Elizabeth Mary Irlbeck. He was a farmer, business man, crop insurance adjuster, and family man. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight and District Deputy for several years. He married Barbara Ann Raef on October 27, 1954 at St. Mary"s Catholic Church in Umbarger. Bernard and Barbara later moved to Canyon and belonged to St. Ann"s Catholic Church. He loved his faith, family and friends and never met a stranger. He was generous with his time and gifts to all he met. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Irlbeck Hartman, father, Carl Anton Hartman, step-mom, Laura Miller Hartman, brothers, Elmer and Carl Hartman, granddaughter, Alyssia Earl, and nephew, Dwayne Hartman. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hartman; seven children, Kenneth Hartman and wife, Theresa, Donna Sue Booker, and husband, Billy, Linda Hegwood, Larry Hartman, Debra Friedberg, and husband, Jay, Karen Powell, and husband, Kent, and David Hartman; eleven grandchildren, Jacob, Morgan, Nicholas, Claire, and Tammy Hartman, Garrett, Amanda, and Meghan Booker, Sherrie Ontiveros, and Kimmie and Ty Land; and two great grandchildren, Alijah and Isaiah Ontiveros. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79176, or the St. Ann"s Building Fund, PO Box 59 Canyon, Texas 79015, or the charity of your choice.
