Obituary for BENNIE WOODS

Memorial Services will be at 2:00P.M. on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Canyon, with Rev. Clark Williams, pastor, Rev. Donna Johnston, associate pastor, Rev. Earl Blair, retired minister, and Rev. Tom Moore, Covenant Fellowship Methodist Church of Amarillo, officiating. Bennie Woods was born on October 5, 1929. He married Jerry Banister in Canyon on November 23, 1950. he was a member of the Texas National Guard for 8 years. He was also a member of West Texas SAMS, First United Methodist Church, and a charter member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class. Bennie retired from WTAMU. He was lovingly known as "Papa Bennie" by his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and one nephew. Survivors include, his wife, Jerry Woods of the home; daughter, Sandra Brown and husband, Donnie of Boys Ranch; son, Randy Woods and wife, Carolyn of Baton Rouge, LA; two grandaughters, Brianna Smith and husband, David of Pampa, and Mallory Woods of Tulsa, OK; two grandsons, Wesley Brown and wife, Tiffany of Canyon, and Chas Woods of Tulsa. OK; two sisters, Frances Stephens and husband, Warren of Amarillo, and Alma Meek and husband, Clois of Lancaster, CA; brother, Jack Walters of Chino Valley, AZ and a special niece, Vicki Summers of Garland. The family requests memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 1818 4th Avenue, Canyon, Texas 79015.
