Obituary for BEN C. BOSTON

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 18, 2008 at the J. W. Byrd Farm, 12 Miles east of I-27 on the Wayside Highway, with Darren Bryan, Carl Hamilton, and Weston Price, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Wayside Cemetery. Ben was born November 6, 1915, in Tulia, Texas to Wallace and Susie Boston. He graduated from Tulia High School in 1934. After graduation, he began his farming career in Tulia. He entered the Army Air Corp in 1942 and was trained as a mechanic on B 26 Bombers in Del Rio, Texas. He served his country faithfully during World War II. After he was honorably discharged from the service, Ben returned to Tulia and resumed his farming. He married his soul mate Ruth Bryan in February of 1947, and they moved to a farm east of Happy. They had four children; Carolyn, Joyce, Edwin, and Sherylene. He served on the Happy School Board and was a member of the R.E.A. of Tulia. He was also a mechanic for the Wayside Emergency Team. and was always a willing helper to any neighbor in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Andrew of Amarillo, and Bill of Tyler and a sister Pearl McCollum of Denver. A special thanks to the doctors who took good care of him and to the nurses and staff of BSA Hospice. Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of the home; three daughters, Carolyn and husband, Sam, of Amarillo, Joyce, of Jamestown, Colorado, Sherylene, of Amarillo; a son, Edwin, of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Sabre McLean and husband, John, of Amarillo, Bambi Barrett and husband, Chris, of Fort Worth, David Wade and wife, Sharon, of Midland, Brad Wade and wife, Alicia, of Wichita Falls, and Chris Morris and wife, Renee, of Amarillo; ten great grandchildren, Taylor and Hayden McLean, Maranda, Becca, and Maggie Wade, Mia and Ryder Barrett, and Christian, Carter, and Caylee Morris; four brothers, Henry Boston, of Tulia, Tommy Boston, of Dallas, Frank Boston, of Tucson, Arizona, and Jimmy Boston, of Waco; two sisters, Lorene Vissor, of Bertram, Texas, and Mary Lou McClellan, of Arizona; one sister-in-law, Ruth F. Boston, of Amarillo; a very special friend, Joe Price, of Happy; and many nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials be to BSA Hospice, P.O.
