Obituary for Beatrice 'Bea' Heathington

Beatrice ‘Bea’ Heathington, 92, of Canyon, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Dreamland Cemetery with Pastor Doug Gehm, Grace Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Brooks Chapel.

Bea was born on June 3, 1929 in Buffalo, New York to Alfred and Beatrice Lewis. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1943. She married W.K. ‘Keith’ Heathington on February 7, 1948, and they moved to Canyon in 1964. At one time, Bea owned a restaurant in Canyon and waitressed at several other restaurants. She was also the bartender and participated in most other affairs at the VFW where she was very active in the Women’s Auxiliary. She loved the outdoors, especially being at the lake or near the ocean. She was also an avid animal lover.

Bea is preceded in death by her husband, Keith, in 1987, a son, William Keith Heathington in 1978, a daughter, Linda King in 2020, a granddaughter, Heather O’Neal in 2003, a stepdaughter, Luella ‘Boots’ Stone in 2019, a stepson, Keith Winfred Heathington, her brother, Jim Lewis, and a sister, Carol Lewis.
Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Heathington of Canyon; her son, Kim Heathington and wife, Kim of Canyon; her granddaughter, raised and loved as a daughter, Montella Barber and husband, David of Amarillo; grandchildren, Kevin Langham and wife, Jessica, Brandy Nogle, and David Heathington and wife, Kassian, as well as numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great, great-grandchildren (with two more coming in April); and a sister, Dorothy Prior of Washington State.

The family suggests memorials be to High Plains Senior Care Hospice, 1600 S. Coulter, Building F, Amarillo, TX 79106, or to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
