Obituary for ATHEALEE MCKILLIP

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at San Jacinto Church of Christ in Amarillo with Glen Walton, retired Church of Christ minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Monday, September 26 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Athealee McKillip was born on April 27, 1928 in Muleshoe, Texas to Carl and Mary Elizabeth Marsh Evans. She married Luther "Talmage" McKillip at Muleshoe on February 12, 1950 and they made their home in Amarillo. She retired after working as the Chief PBX Operator at Baptist St. Anthony"s Hospital for 27 years. She was a member of the United Commercial Travelers of America, High Plains / BSA Retirees Committee, the Telephone Committee, the Stan Slade NTO Bowling League, Amarillo Women"s Bowling Association, and was an officer in the Lady"s 500 Club. She was also a member of San Jacinto Church of Christ in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Oleta Hamblin, Jerry Yonka, Ivydell Curtis, and Jo Holmes, her parents, Carl and Mary Evans, and one son, Rex McKillip. Survivors include her husband, Talmage McKillip, of the home, one daughter, Mickey Simmons and husband, Jon, of Canyon; two sons, Buck McKillip and LySa, of Amarillo and Danny McKillip and wife, Robin, of Amarillo; two sisters, Dorothy Morton, of Edmonson, TX, and Mary Jane "Sunshine" Thurman, of Jacksboro, TX; one brother-in-law, J. E. McKillip and wife, Daisy, of Portales, NM; grandchildren, Akaisha & Joseph Liekhus, Brandon McKillip, Shannon & Frank Hunter, Brenda Rogers, Kristi & Justin York, Jake McKillip, Erik McKillip, all of Amarillo, Scott & Misty Simmons of Muleshoe, Dustin & Jocelyn Simmons of Lubbock, and Rachel & Michael Gallimore of Waco; and great grandchildren, Tennsea & Tanner Liekhus, Dalton McKillip, Becca Rogers, Shinndiah & Mariah Hunter, Bailey Jo McKillip, all of Amarillo, Hanna Simmons of Muleshoe, Skylar & Brady Jon Simmons of Lubbock, and Angel McKillip of Frederick, Maryland; and special children, Christian Stone and Rebecca Stone.
