Obituary for ARDALIA WELLS WHEATLEY

Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with David Lough, pastor of University Church of Christ in Canyon, officiating. Burial is in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Ardalia Wheatley was born on August 18, 1923 in Albany, TX to Winifred and Marie Martin Wells. The family moved to Lynn County when she was three weeks old in a covered wagon. She married Glenn Clark Wheatley on July 2, 1938 in Posey, TX. They were long time farmers in Lynn and Garza Counties and she had been employed at Burlington Industries in Post, TX as a seamstress. She enjoyed tending her flowers in her yard, as well as fishing and painting. She loved to play cards, dominoes and dice, and her heart belonged to her animals. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, their beloved little dog, Nikki, her parents, brothers, and son-in-law, Milton Gindorf. Survivors include her son, Glenn Dale Wheatley and wife, Clydus, of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Elaine Fertsch and husband, Jim, of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Shelly Downey, of Amarillo, Kim Ferguson and husband, Ricky, of Canyon, Elizabeth Hopkins and husband, Dave, of the Dallas area, Glenn Dale Wheatley, Jr. and wife, Sandi, of the Dallas area, Rebecca McGee and husband, Robert, of the Dallas area; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
