Obituary for Alleene C. Leake

Alleene C. Leake, 84, of Canyon, died Tuesday, February 19, 2002. Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, February 22, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church of Canyon with Dr. Keith Wiseman of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be at Dreamland Cemetery. Alleene Leake was born on April 25, 1917 in Erath County, Texas. She graduated from high school in Hereford, Texas and then attended Draughns Business College in Plainview, Texas. She married Iverson Leake in January of 1936 in Clovis, NM. He preceded her in death in 1984. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canyon. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron of Canyon City Chapter 105 and serving as a district deputy. She helped organize and served as Mother Advisor of the Canyon Assembly, and Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She also served as Grand Visitor. She was a member of several bridge clubs in Canyon. Survivors include one daughter, Virginia L. Ringener of Lubbock, Texas; one son, Ed Leake of San Miguel, New Mexico; one brother, Obed Caraway of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren, Todd Leake of Denver, Colorado, Mark Langford of Lubbock, Texas, Alleene Leake of San Miguel, New Mexico, and Vianey Marquiz of San Miguel, New Mexico; three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and one caregiver, Dorothy Jenkins of Lubbock, Texas. The family suggests memorials be to Dreamland Cemetery, P.O Box 38, Canyon, Texas 79015, Opportunity Plan, Box 1035, Canyon, Texas, 79015, or a favorite charity.
