Alene J. Johnson, 83, of Canyon, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in Amarillo. Ms. Johnson was born on May 1, 1920 at Salado Route 1, Bell County, Texas. She attended school in Jarrell Williamson County, Texas. During her formative years, she lived with her maternal grandparents, Andrew and Louise McRea, a pioneer ranching family in Jarrell, Texas. She received her G.E.D. certificate at Amarillo College in 1969. She was a Certified Nurse's Aid and served many families in the Panhandle area as a Home-Live-In nurse. She was a Baptist. Survivors include two sons, John Frank Johnson, of Dewey, AZ, and George H. Johnson, of Las Vegas, NV; one step-daguhter, Sylvia Wagner, of New Braunfels; three grandsons, John W. Johnson and Shiloh Johnson, both of Amarillo, and Christopher Johnson, of South Bend, IN; five step-grandchildren, Christopher and Cody Winters, of Las Vegas, NV, and Paula, Arleen, and Helen Wagner, of New Braunfels; and two special friends, Deane Collins and Lisa Payne of Amarillo.
